4. Host responsibilities: Provide name tags and selected wines for the evening. In addition to the selected wines, the host will also provide two additional wines from the sampled selection to be served with appetizers after the wine tasting. The host should also plan to have coffee available after the tasting. The host acts as treasurer for the evening and calculates the total amount spent on the wines and divides the cost among each member. Plan to have a bucket for pouring out extra or unwanted portions of wine. Provide a glass of water for each guest. Use white napkins or have white paper available so wine can be viewed against a white background to see its true color. 5. Member responsibilities: Each member will bring an appetizer or dessert to share after the wine tasting (coordinate with host). Additional guests may be invited with PRIOR APPROVAL of a committee member. Please provide three weeks advance notice so additional arrangements can be made. Be aware space can be limited and accommodating additional guests may not be feasible. 6. Attendance: If you are unable to attend a tasting in any month, notify one of the committee members at least three weeks in advance, otherwise you will be held responsible for getting a sub. 7. Annual fee: The annual fee is $5.00 per household, payable when you submit your completed registration form. This will take care of mailing and printing costs. There is also a one-time charge of $10.00 a person or $20.00 a couple for glasses. This fee is assessed when you first join the group and is good as long as you stay a member. 8. Glasses: When you host a tasting you will be responsible for washing and packing up the wine glasses. The committee will arrange for someone to pick the glasses up and get them to the next host. Hints: Don't wear perfume. It can interfere with the aroma of the wines. Eat a light meal before you arrive. |
